Sandie Shaw is revered in Britain, though virtually unknown in the US. Not as vocally dextrous as Dusty or Lulu, gorgeous Sandie had a youthful exuberance and girl-at-the-fish-and-chips-shop quality that struck a chord with the mods of Carnaby Street’s 60’s youthquake. Some of her originals and covers (like her acclaimed take on Bacharach’s ALWAYS SOMETHING THERE (TO REMIND ME)) are pop classics, others are catchy throwaways, but all are fun and great listening.
